Breaking Glass

  • Lyman Allyn Art Museum 625 Williams Street New London, CT, 06320 United States (map)

Breaking Glass is inspired by the life of Victorian photographer Julia Margaret Cameron. Cameron took up photography at the age of 48. She produced 900 photographs in a 12-year period, capturing 'famous men and fair women.’ One of the first art photographers, she is credited with creating the ‘close-up.’ Yet, as a woman, she faced fierce criticism. Today, few know of her immense contribution to the art of photography. This play aims to change that.

We are thrilled to present Breaking Glass as part of Lyman Allyn’s First Free Saturday while they have three photography exhibits in the galleries. This promises to be an immersive day celebrating the photographic art!
